So needless to say I'm not a big fan of Valentines Day. When I was younger, I never really paid attention to the holiday, I just remember my mom would give me and my sister something. That and when we used to give everyone in our classroom a card in grade school.
Recently, I've grown to dislike it because of the many downsides to the holiday. Maybe it's cause I've grown cynical with age, maybe it's cause I've been single, but I've found a lot of problems with the whole thing, regardless of whether or not ur single.
If you're single, V day just magnifies the fact that you're unattached. If you're in the dating game, it places a lot of pressure on finding a date by the day. If you're dating a couple people casually, you're in a pickle for who to spend the day with. And even if you're in a relationship, all is not quite on the western front. Women have it hardest cause there is nearly nothing marketed to guys for Valentines day (although I say just show up naked with beer and I'm happy). And for guys it's mission-fucking-impossible. You can't be cliche and get the typical chocolates or roses. Lingere is a gift for you, not for her. You can't get her something cute , like a stuffed bear with a heart in it's arms cause that's waaaa too cheesy. And you can't just get her something useful cause it needs to be sentimental or romantic. So you need something sentimental or romantic, that isn't cliche or cheesy, that can be useful but it's not mandatory... which is prett much impossible.
So like I said, I'm not a big fan of Valentines day... too much pressure!
